With a population of only 5 people, Diamond is truly an escape from the stresses of everyday life. Not only are our staff members some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, but they have extensive knowledge of the area and its history.

Our Story

Shirley Thompson, David Thompson, and Gretchen Nichols are the current owners of Hotel Diamond, which they bought in 2000.  The family has been ranching in Diamond Valley for 6 generations. David and Gretchen's great grandfather managed the hotel in the early 1900s for the original builder while he established his ranch.

Before purchasing Hotel Diamond, the family ran an Inn on their ranch on McCoy Creek and have been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years. It is our hope that visitors will gain a greater understanding of cattle ranching and take away greater respect for the West and its scenic beauty, and those who live here as stewards of the land.
