Hotel Diamond is an historic hotel in Diamond, Oregon. Built in 1898 it is the oldest accommodation in the area. Although we pride ourselves on our business' rich history, it is our attention to detail and willingness to satisfy each customer's needs that sets us apart.
A Secluded Getaway Few places have escaped commercialization and tourism like Diamond, Oregon which lies at the base of the breathtaking Steens Mountain in the heart of country rich with the history of settlers, Native Americans, sheepherders and cattle barons. Experience the vast beauty of Harney County - Oregon's own outback.
With a population this year of only 5 people, Diamond is truly an escape from the stresses of everyday life. Not only are our staff members some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet, but they have an extensive knowledge of the area and its history.
Our Story Shirley Thompson, David Thompson, and Gretchen Nichols are the current owners of Hotel Diamond. The family has been ranching in Diamond Valley for 5 generations. David and Gretchen's great grandfather managed the hotel for the original builder while he established his ranch. In 2000 the family purchased the hotel.
Before purchasing Hotel Diamond, the family ran an inn on their ranch on McCoy Creek and have been in the hospitality industry for 25 years. It is our hope that our visitors will gain a greater understanding of cattle ranching and take away a greater respect for the West and its scenic beauty.
